The Master of Science in Sports Science is a one degree programme with two specialization options in collaboration with the University of Fribourg.

Specializiation in teaching

This specialization is about deepening your knowledge and understanding of sports science and teaches you to apply your scientific findings in practice.

SFISM and the University of Fribourg are jointly offering a newly designed Master's course: Master of Science in Sports with Specialization in Teaching.

Aside from the in-depth study of sports science, what is new is the focus on specific issues relating to potentially working as a professional sports teacher at the upper-secondary level of baccalaureate schools.

Graduates will be able to use scientific methods and effectively apply sports science findings to the practice of sports teaching.

Specialization in health and research 

This specialization is about deepening your knowledge and understanding of sports science. You will learn to apply your scientific findings to health-related practice. 

The Master of Science in Sports Sciences with Specialization in Health and Research focuses on the scientific aspects of health research and health promotion, and is therefore ideally suited to individuals who wish to work in the field of prevention and/or in exercise science research. This specialization has also been developed through the cooperation between SFISM and the University of Fribourg for their joint Master's degree. 

Students will be introduced to scientific methods and will conduct independent research projects in the context of health research. Students will learn to frame research questions, collect data and then subsequently analyse and present the data.
