Admission requirements Bachelor

Admission to the Bachelor's course requires proof of various degrees. In addition, an aptitude assessment must be passed, as the number of study places is limited to 40 (cycle 2025–2028).

To be admitted to the Bachelor's course, you must first pass an aptitude assessment.

When registering for the aptitude assessment, you are required to provide evidence of all the following certificates (registration deadline: 30 April 2025):

• Baccalaureate from a vocational/technical college or secondary school
• Up-to-date certificate «first aid level 1 IVR» (not older than 2 years)
  OR
  Certificate «BLS-AED-SRC complet» (not older than 2 years) TOGETHER WITH a certificate «Nothilfe/Nothelferausweis» or emergency assistance course, Swiss Army (not older than 6 years); please upload both documents as one PDF!
• Up-to-date «Brevet Basis Pool» lifesaving certificate from the Swiss Lifesaving Society (SLRG) (not older than 4 years)

Recognized equivalent qualifications

• Baccalaureate

  Equivalents:

  • Primary school teaching certificate (Primarlehrerpatent)
  • Integrative secondary school certificate (Integrative Mittelschule IMSF)
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma with 32 out of 42 points excluding bonus points (in 6 separate general education subjects, of which at least three subjects at Higher Level (one of which must be a maths or science subject))
  • International Baccalaureate with three A Levels with at least BBC grades and three IGCSE's with 5/9 (one of the A Level subjects must also be mathematics or a science subject; another should be German or French)
  • German higher education entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
  • Diploma from a VET/PET college

  Not equivalent:

  • College of further education, two or three years
  • Secondary school certificate (without baccalaureate)
  • Professional NCO in the armed forces

• First-aid certificate (First Aid level 1 IVR)

  Equivalents:

  • Registered nurse (Pflegefachfrau HF)
  • Health professional (Fachangestellte Gesundheit (FAGE))
  • Medical practice assistant (Medizinische Praxisassistentin (MPA))
  • First-aid certificate from Swiss Medical Corps (SSK)
  • Military paramedic Military hospital staff
  • Rescue level 1 certificate for nonprofessionals (Laienzertifizierung Rettungswesen Niveau I)
  • Mountain guide training
  • Johanniter first-aid course (16-hour course)
  • PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) Military first response
  • Brevet Schweizer Badmeister/-in (BiP)

  Not equivalent:

  • Only emergency assistance course certificate (Nothelferausweis)
  • Only BLS-AED certificate without emergency assistance course certificate
  • copy of driving licence

• Brevet Basis Pool lifesaving certificate from Swiss Lifesaving Society SLRG

  Equivalents:

  • German lifesaving badge «DLRG-SILBER»
  • Brevet Schweizer Badmeister/-in (BiP)

• SFISM's examination board will decide whether courses and qualifications are equivalent. E-mail your documents (degree certificate, content, duration etc.) for checking to [e-mail]
