Location

SFISM is located in Magglingen, a village lying at an altitude of 900 metres above sea level near the bilingual city of Biel/Bienne in the canton of Berne.

The university campus comprises the main building (HG) and the new Lärchenplatz building (LP). Lectures, seminars and congresses are usually held in HG or LP. Wayfinders in the buildings provide detailed information about room allocations.

Sport facilities

Practical sports education activities and the majority of performance diagnostics are carried out at FOSPO's facilities in Magglingen (Canton Berne). For water sports, SFISM uses facilities in Ipsach/Biel, the snow sports centre is in Andermatt. Individual course blocks and performance diagnostics for swimming are carried out at the National Youth Sports Centre CST in Tenero.

Arriving by public transport

• Biel – Magglingen (Magglingen funicular)

  The Magglingen funicular (timetable) takes you from the Biel/Bienne lower station up to Magglingen in a 6-8 minute panoramic ride. The FOSPO is right next to the station at the top.

  The Magglingen funicular lower station is a 10-minute walk from Biel/Bienne railway station. The number 11 bus connects the funicular lower station with Biel/Bienne railway station (timetable).

  From Biel/Bienne railway station there are train connections to Bern, Zurich, Basel and Geneva
  

• Biel – Leubringen – Magglingen (Funi Evilard)

  The Funi Evilard takes 7-8 minutes from Biel's old town to Leubringen. Please note: this is a different lower station than for the funicular railway to Magglingen (timetable).

  A free bus (bus 79) departs from Leubringen Mondays to Fridays and stops at several FOSPO sites in Magglingen (timetable).
  

• Local bus

  The Leubringen-Magglingen local bus, financed by the commune and FOSPO, runs every 30 minutes during the day and also in the evenings and at weekends (press release of 22.09.2022 DE). This local bus, which is free of charge, will take you quickly, easily and comfortably to the Magglingen National Sports Centre. The 'End of the World' sports hall, for example, is just a 21-minute journey from Biel/Bienne railway station (timetable).

Arriving by car

• From Bern

  Take the A1 direction Zurich/Basel/Interlaken/Biel. At the intersection, take the Schönbühl 38/9 exit in the direction of Biel. Once in Biel, follow signs for Delémont. At the motorway roundabout, take the exit towards 'Biel Zentrum'. Continue for 500 metres then take the first right towards Magglingen/Leubringen. Continue straight on until you arrive in Magglingen. Continue on for 500 metres and you will arrive at the FOSPO main school building.
  

• From Jura

  Take the main road to Tavannes. At Tavannes, take the motorway in the direction of Biel and continue until the exit marked 'Biel Zentrum'. After exiting the motorway here, continue for 500 metres then take the first right towards Magglingen/Leubringen. Continue straight on until you arrive in Magglingen. Continue on for 500 metres and you will arrive at the FOSPO main school building.
  

• From Zurich/Solothurn

  Take the A5 motorway to Biel. At Biel, follow signs for Delémont. At the motorway roundabout, take the exit towards 'Biel Zentrum'. Continue for 500 metres then take the first right towards Magglingen/Leubringen. Continue straight on until you arrive in Magglingen. Continue for 500 metres and you will arrive at the FOSPO main school building.
  

• From Neuchâtel

  Drive on the main road along the lake towards Biel. Once in Biel, follow the signs for Delémont. Take the Reuchenettestrasse towards Delémont, turn left towards Magglingen/Leubringen and continue towards Magglingen. Continue for 500 metres and you will arrive at the FOSPO main school building.
  

• Parking

  • CHF 2 per hour 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • A day ticket costs CHF 16 in car parks P1/P2/P3/P4/P5/P6.
  • A day ticket costs CHF 10 In car parks P7/P8/P9/P10.
  • The tickets are only valid for the car park spaces for which they were purchased. Day tickets must be purchased via the Parkingpay app or website.
  • Free parking is only available at Hohmatt in Magglingen.
  • Car park P4 will definitely be closed until 2030 due to construction work.
