Frequently asked questions

  • Sports facilities may be eligible for grants from cantonal Sport-Toto funds. The first point of contact is the Cantonal Sports Office.
  • Under the «National Sports Facilities Concept NASAK», the Confederation co-finances only a few selected sport infrastructures that are listed in the catalogue of facilities of national importance.
     

  • The standards and recommendations are not legally binding, but rather serve as planning guidelines that reflect the latest technology.
  • They may be declared binding for particular planning consent procedures (planning permission, grants), or they may be consulted if the courts are asked to resolve legal disputes.

  • All suppliers known to us and all products on sale in Switzerland are listed in FOSPO factsheet 901 (Sports surfaces – list of suppliers).
  • The companies and products included in this list are not rated in any way.

  • The respective national governing bodies are solely responsible for authorizing playing areas for competitions. FOSPO has no authority to make rulings about this.
  • Accordingly, only the national governing bodies can grant exemptions with regard to dimensions, safety zones and clear heights of pitches, courts or playing areas.

  • The unit is not a planning office and does not design any actual projects.
  • All aspects that need to be taken into account from the point of view of sport are described in its publications
