Integration and prevention unit

The Integration and Prevention Unit deals with all aspects of diversity and prevention in sport and raises awareness of its value for the individual and society. In the right circumstances, sport can make an important contribution to society by fostering social participation, physical development and personal fulfilment. The Unit also seeks to prevent undesirable side effects of sport such as addiction, violence, discrimination, doping or sexual abuse.

The Unit promotes all aspects of diversity and prevention across the whole of the Federal Office of Sport FOSPO. Its activities are grounded in legislation, national strategies and the Ethics Charter for Swiss sport. In accordance with these principles, it is committed to fair, safe and non-discriminatory sport.

  • Supporting equal access tot and universal participation in sport
  • Promoting behaviour that instils the positive values of sport in society

The Unit promotes diversity and prevention in sport through the following channels:

  • Teaching – through communicating these issues in the SFISM's sport courses, in Youth+Sport education, and in training courses for instructors and sport coordinators
  • Research and development – through developing and disseminating fundamental principles
  • Services – by acting as a point of contact for advice, for support with services and for specific civil society project.
