Integration and prevention unit

The Integration and prevention unit handles all aspects of such issues across the whole of the Federal Office of Sport FOSPO. Its activities are grounded in legislation, national strategies and the Ethics Charter for Swiss sport. It accordingly strives to ensure that sport is conducted in a fair, safe and inclusive space, and endeavours to advance the following societal goals, among others:
- Supporting equal opportunities to access sport and universal participation in sport
- Promoting behaviour that instils the positive values of sport in society
In the right circumstances, sport can make an important contribution to society by fostering integration processes and the healthy development of Switzerland's citizens. Consequently, FOSPO is committed to the topic of “sport and integration” and applies a consistent understanding of the term “integration” in its activities.

To reduce the unwanted potential side effects of participation in sport, such as addiction, violence, exclusion, doping or sexual abuse, the unit actively runs integration and prevention campaigns and raises awareness of these issues.
The unit promotes integration and prevention in sport through the following channels:
- Teaching – through communicating these issues in the SFISM's sport courses and in Youth+Sport education and training bodies
- Research and development – through developing and disseminating fundamental principles
- Services – by acting as a point of contact for advice, assistance with tenders and certain other civil society projects
Please see the Y+S website or FOSPO website for further information and materials on integration and prevention.
