Ukrainian researcher couple can stay in Magglingen

Two researchers from Ukraine can be engaged for another year at the Federal Office of Sport FOSPO affiliated Swiss Federal Institute of Sport Magglingen SFISM.

As a result of the war, Viktoriia Nagorna and Artur Mytko fled to Switzerland with their three children last spring. Since June 2022, the two scientists have been working in the section performance sport on the SFISM's «DigitalTwin» research project, which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation SNF. The latter has now accepted a supplementary application for an extension of their participation, enabling the two to spend a second year in Magglingen.

Silvio Lorenzetti, Head of the section performance sport at the SFISM, is very pleased that the two guests will be staying: «A wonderful solution with an unfortunately very sad background. We are pleased, that we can count on the support of Viktoriia and Artur for another year.»

The SNSF DigitalTwin project

The goal of the DigitalTwin research project is to increase the efficiency and safety of strength training through the development and validation of biomechanical computer models and mobile measurement techniques. The 4-year project is being funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), and the Sports technology unit is working together with the Institute for Biomechanics (IfB) at ETH Zurich and the Swiss Center for Musculoskeletal Imaging (SCMI), Balgrist Campus Zurich.
