SFISM hosts the Swiss Strength & Conditioning Association on its anniversary

The Swiss Strength & Conditioning Association SSCA is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Magglingen. Sports Coach Education Switzerland is also involved in the event, as is SFISM strength training expert and SSCA committee member Jan Seiler.

From 11 to 13 October, the focus at the National Sports Centre Magglingen will be on athletics training. The SSCA is organising a workshop above Lake Biel to mark its 10th anniversary, which will be attended by leading national and international experts in strength and conditioning.

With the additional support of the US National Strength & Conditioning Association NSCA, the event is attracting considerable international attention.

SFISM graduates on the committee

As an association representing Strength & Conditioning coaches with an academic education – i.e. those with a Master's degree in the field of performance sport training sciences – the SSCA also represents graduates of the SFISM's Master's in Elite Sports.

Two such graduates, Jan Seiler and Loic Besançon, sit on the six-member SSCA committee. Seiler has also been working as a strength training expert in Magglingen since 2019.

Sports Coach Education Switzerland at the workshop

Sports Coach Education Switzerland is also involved in this area with its Athletic Training specialisation. This programme is currently being redesigned and will be relaunched in 2025. This year is the first year that Sports Coach Education Switzerland is partnering the SSCA workshop, which has been held in Magglingen for the past five years. It is organising a talk on the topic of ‹Targeted preparation for a successful major event›.

It is hoped that the collaboration between the SSCA and Sports Coach Education Switzerland will help to improve the quality of athletics training in Switzerland long term
