Internship in sports physiology

Internship for students of exercise and sports sciences

Programme duration 3 months

As well as services and research and development, the Sports physiology unit is involved in teaching in the areas of strength, speed and endurance in national elite sport.

For our three "endurance", "strength" and "game sports" groups, we are seeking an enthusiastic intern to commence work at the beginning of February, May, August and November respectively. In individual cases other starting dates may be desired. You must have a passion for performance sport and a desire to deepen your knowledge of applied sports physiology.

Brief outline of tasks

  • Assist with conducting and analysing performance diagnostic tests
  • Review scientific data and carry out literature searches
  • Independent internship project
  • Small teaching assignments (lectures, discussion of studies, etc.)

General learning aim

  • More in-depth practical insight into sports science services as well as research and development
  • Independently performing and analysing selected performance diagnostic tests on fellow students

Sports physiology (game sports)

The team supports the physical performance development of Swiss elite and emerging athletes in game sports through performance analyses and training recommendations.

Sports physiology (strength)

The Sports Physiology section currently supports the physical performance development of Swiss national teams across ten different sports requiring explosive strength. It uses a variety of performance tests, some of which have been developed in-house, to determine maximum and explosive strength, and derives training recommendations from the results.
