A look back at Sunset Summer School 2020

The Sunset Summer School on multidisciplinary athlete development in performance sport, conducted online by the Elite Sport department of SFISM from 7–10 September 2020, went off (almost) smoothly. It’s worth taking a look back.

Multidisciplinary athlete development was examined and discussed in great detail from the viewpoints of sports medicine, biomechanics, performance diagnostics and leadership. The links to the sessions are listed below. Why not listen for a second time!

The Summer School was aimed primarily at young scientists. The format was therefore based on a scientific congress with traditional presentations. Activating the participants by means of the chat function or with live questions and answers proved valuable.

At the virtual level there were four events, four introductions to the topic and five keynote addresses. In addition to 75 external participants there were also participants from the FSISM. We also welcomed a visitor to Magglingen – Ina Janssen from Papendal, Holland.

The online platform functioned well both in terms of the technology and from a teaching perspective, apart from one incident (the administrator computer experienced a short crash). However, the problem was quickly resolved in-house. The Elite Sport department would like to thank the Swiss Association of Sports Sciences as well as all involved at the FOSPO and FSISM for the great support.
